TRADITIONAL INDIAN WELCOME
The Indian saying Atithii Devo Bhava means ‘A guest is God’. The guest is thus greeted with great warmth. Ladies in ethnic Indian clothing garland the guest with strings of marigold, anoint them with the auspicious vermillion tikka and perform an aarti. It’s time then to relax with a cool, welcome drink.

ELEPHANT POLO
Get astride an elephant like a maharajah and participate in the royal game of polo. The game begins to the martial tunes of a royal military brass band. Welcomed by festively decorated camels and elephants, the guest’s arrival is signaled by the pounding of nagadas (huge drums). After the final chukker, folk artistes perform to local music as a lavish spread of food brings down the curtains on this royal event.

ROYAL PROCESSION WELCOME
In the old days victorious Rajput warriors were given a truly magnificent welcome. Relive this grand past, as the guest arrives in a royal carriage or on elephant back, escorted by caparisoned camels and elephants ~ their trunks raised in salute. The procession rides through a shower of rose petals, with horsemen in the lead and musicians heralding the entry.

Gentlemen can wear safas (traditional Rajasthani turbans) while the ladies drape themselves in sarees and dupattas (shawls). The guest is garlanded with marigold and anointed with the auspicious vermillion tikkas to the lilting strains of the shehnai. And then, a soothing welcome drink.

GRAND RAJASTHANI FOLK DANCERS
Be hypnotized by the Rajasthani folk dancers as they whirl dizzily to the upbeat local music after a Royal Procession Welcome. Then be treated to an elaborate barbeque on the palace lawns as a grand fireworks display bursts into the night sky.

GANGAUR BOAT DINNER NEAR THE LAKE PALACE
Experience royalty’s luxurious lifestyle. Walk into a majestic welcome, and then get on the Gangaur boat and cruise around on the lake sipping cocktails. Pause by the Lily Pond to listen to the sitar. Appreciate the traditional folk singers and dances, followed by a repast meant for kings and queens and an even fancier firework display.

VILLAGE FAIR THEME
Wander through a traditional Indian village marvelling at the skill of artisans —  crafting dolls, puppets and pottery. Be amused by the antics of a banderwallah (an artiste with a monkey), a snake charmer, kachi-ghodi and dhamal (a performance with dummy horse, singers and dancers). The final treat: a splendid Indian dinner and a mesmerising firework display.

DARBAR THEME
Sink into the comfort of satin mattresses, cushions and bolsters like a true prince of leisure. Dine under the stars after the gentlemen have been gifted pagaris (turbans) and the ladies chunnies (veils). You will be welcomed in a shower of rose petals and attar (perfume). Sit down to a delicious Rajasthani meal served in silver thalis on bajots (low tables) by traditionally attired attendants.

DASTARKHAN
Learn the fine art of living from the connoisseurs – the Nawabs of Lucknow. At the entrance get ready to accept a grand salute from two adorned tuskers, while the ladies get carried away in palkis (palanquins). Raise a toast to the grandeur of Lucknow as you watch a Kathak recital. Then, offer your undivided attention to Dastarkhan, a splendid gastronomic spread. Relish it while listening to a live ghazal performance in true Lucknowi style.

NAWAB’S HUNTING CAMP
Be a part of the exalted celebrations that mark a successful royal hunt. As you sit under a large cluster of colourful tents come alive with resounding music and dances around a campfire. Mashaals (flaming torches) glow in the twilight as food is barbecued on spits and served piping hot by foot soldiers. Making it an unforgettable evening of royal living.

THARU VILLAGE
Experience the raw native life of the Tharus — original inhabitants of the Tarai region of Nepal. Bite into morsels of traditional Nepali cuisine ensconced in a two-storied log hut with a thatched roof. Bonfires and a typical village ambience give you the opportunity to see Nepal at its traditional best.
